During 1545 the French invaded the Isle of Wight. This is commemorated by a plaque in Seaview reading "During the last invasion of this country hundreds of French troops landed on the foreshore nearby. This armed invasion was bloodily defeated and repulsed by local militia 21st July 1545".

Seaview is a small, quiet village of unspoilt charm on the east coast of the Isle of Wight.

The village consists largely of Victorian and Edwardian holiday houses and cottages and is a favourite holiday place for families and sailors alike, who all seem to love the old-fashioned pace of life and atmosphere in Seaview. Seaview also serves as a great bolt hole from where you can explore the many coastal walks and intersting places to visit. There are many families that come to Seaview for their holidays year after year, and generation after generation.

The picturesque High Street is home to a few pleasant shops and the famous Seaview Hotel and it leads straight down to the Old Fort bar and the Seaview Yacht club overlooking the Sea. Nearby, there are safe sandy beaches for swimming, and rock pools to give children hours of fun, as well as a promenade walk.

The Isle of Wight and Seaview enjoy some of the best weather in the UK and as such is popular with families, sailors and those seeking a quiet out-of-season break.
